Your role:
We are looking for a motivated and results-driven Business Development Associate to join our team and play a key role in expanding our "Buy Now, Pay Later" (BNPL) platform by signing up new merchants for both online and in-store integrations. This role is ideal for a proactive, customer-centric professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited by the prospect of contributing to the growth of an innovative fintech company.
Your responsibilities:
- Merchant Acquisition
- Identify, engage, and onboard new merchants for our BNPL platform, building a robust pipeline of prospective partners in both the online and brick-and-mortar retail sectors.
- Leverage various outreach strategies, including cold calling, email campaigns, social media outreach, and face-to-face interactions, to secure partnerships.
- Conduct demos and presentations to educate merchants on our BNPL product features, benefits, and integration processes.
- Relationship Building
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with potential merchants to understand their unique business needs and demonstrate how our BNPL solutions can drive their growth.
- Serve as the primary point of contact during the onboarding phase and work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure a smooth merchant integration process.
- Sales Strategy Execution
- Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to execute merchant acquisition strategies that align with company goals.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and merchant needs to identify new opportunities and optimize acquisition tactics.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual targets for merchant acquisition and active usage.
- Market Insights & Feedback Loop
- Gather feedback from merchants on product functionality, user experience, and desired features, and relay this information to the product team to inform ongoing improvements.
- Provide insights into market dynamics, merchant needs, and sales tactics to contribute to strategy refinement.
Your expertise:
- Experience
- At a minimum, internship or co-op training experience in business development, sales, or partnerships, preferably in fintech, e-commerce, or a technology company, with a maximum of 2 years of experience.
- Previous experience with merchant acquisition, partnerships, or sales is highly desirable.
- Skills
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with a focus on building rapport with diverse clientele.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize in a dynamic, results-driven environment.
- Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
